CONFERENCE FOR FAMILIES AND THOSE AFFECTED BY INCARCERATION TO BE HELD IN THE BOISE / NAMPA AREA

In a recent television news broadcast, an organization called Accomplished Ventures was highlighted, an organization that is said to bring together people who are involved in the criminal justice system - on either side of the fence [pun intended] - with an eye towards healing, reentry and any number of other positive missions.

Accomplished Ventures is hosting a get together under the banner "Convicted Conference" - whatever that's supposed to mean. Anyway, here is some information on the conference as the information was made available through the IDOC.

[NOTE: You can also access information and resources for areas all over the U.S. at any time by clicking on the Reentry Resources link on this page. Most of the resources are available or may otherwise be useful even if you've never been incarcerated.]

The Convicted Conference in the Boise/Nampa area is focused on reentry, not only for the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated, but also family members and loved ones.

Please let your family members know about the opportunity to attend this conference on June 4 at Ten Mile Christian Church from 10:00 - 5:00. This event is focused on providing hope and healing to the families and loved ones of the currently and formerly incarcerated citizens in Idaho.

Convicted Conference will provide community organizations and government agencies an opportunity to meet intimately in 30-minute breakout sessions with the families of the justice impacted. This format allows for authentic dialogue around community barriers along with discussion around real outcomes, tangible resources, and opportunities to reduce recidivism. These topics include: Health and healthcare - Communication - Parenting - Addiction and Recovery - Marriage and Partnerships - Reentry Support - Support and Assistance for Children of Incarcerated Parents - and much more.

This format will also provide an open forum to explore ways to help with issues like addiction, mental illness, housing, transportation, and employment.

Convicted Conference will provide networking opportunities for community organizations to promote and learn about transition, re-entry, and support services for returning citizens releasing into the community and those who may need some additional assistance prior to or upon their release.

Convicted Conference will also provide returning citizens and their families visibility with parole/probation officers, volunteers, mentors, and workforce and employment agencies to identify and understand available community resources.

Food will be provided as well as activities for kids. All family members are welcome with childcare provided.

Sessions will be recorded with opportunities for those incarcerated to view the recording when available.

Anyone who is or will be released to (Parole) Districts 3 and 4. However, anyone, anywhere can attend. Target audience is the family because incarceration effects more than just the incarcerated, or formerly incarcerated, individual.
