RECENT GLOBAL WARMING TRENDS - HERE'S THE CAUSE... YOU CAN'T GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING

Yea, I know, this is a prison issue related blog, but this just has to come out - as none of the talking heads on the television machine have addressed the obvious.

First, yes, there is a trend of temperatures increasing around the world, and while natural cycles of warming and cooling of the planet are certainly the primary cause, humans have contributed to the issue. While "experts" yap about tailpipe emissions of carbon dioxide as the culprit (while intentionally creating the exact same compound to make sodas fizzy), nobody talks about how much heat is actually generated and released into the atmosphere by the running of the engine itself (touch the engine block with your finger after even a short drive - no, don't do that - but you get the point).

Now to my point - Most recently, with the push to "go green" people have built and erected thousands of wind-powered generators (we used to call them windmills) all over the planet. The combined effects of these units (among other things) are creating a significant impact on the climate.

While some groups complain about the ascetics of the machines, others point to the thousands of bird strikes and other bio-ecological problems, none (to my knowledge) have addressed this: if you use the wind energy to turn the blades, that wind energy is no longer available to cool the planet through evaporation and dispersion of heat.

Heat (as I learned in high school) is transmitted by three methods, conduction, convection and radiation. Generally speaking, the skillet on your stove is conducting heat into the food you're cooking from the heat source underneath. If you place your hand over the hot skillet and feel the heat, you are experiencing heat radiating from the pan. When you feel the heat from the oven swirling out when you open the door, that is convection. Granted, these three methods often combine, but at least one of them is in play at all times.

You don't need a degree in thermodynamics to understand that if the wind isn't available to help with the dispersion of heat and to assist with the evaporation of moisture in the ground, things will begin to rot, and soon even normally dry areas of the planet will be arid and swampy. These environments cater to fungi and bacterial growth that can be detrimental, and soon start creating methane and other gasses that are said to be causing changes in the atmosphere.

Without the wind, areas that suffer from thermal inversions, where the heat is trapped beneath a layer of colder air, will find this condition more of a rule than an exception. Without the wind, darker colored buildings will be unable to shed heat as easily and will need even more power for air conditioning to prevent it from becoming a virtual oven.

Yep, humans have contributed to global warming (a bit anyway) but destroy the wind - a decidedly non-renewable resource - and there is no coming back from that.
